The Concerned Referees and Match Commissioners of Ghana (CRAMCOG) have officially informed the Ghana Football Association (GFA) of their decision to withdraw their officiating services for the remainder of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season.

In a letter dated April 27, 2025, CRAMCOG cited a staggering 21-week delay in the payment of allowances as the core reason behind their action.

Their move highlights mounting frustration among match officials, who argue that continuous neglect of their welfare is now threatening the integrity of Ghanaian football.

The group made their demands unmistakably clear: fairness and respect must extend beyond players and clubs to the referees and commissioners who uphold the laws of the game every week.

“An empty sack cannot stand upright,” CRAMCOG stated in their letter, using a powerful analogy to describe the impossible burden placed on officials who have continued to work despite prolonged financial disregard.

“This is not an act of rebellion but an urgent call for change,” CRAMCOG emphasized. “Respect for referees and commissioners is fundamental to preserving the integrity of football. If those entrusted with enforcing the rules are treated unfairly, the entire game is at risk.”

Their withdrawal presents a serious challenge to the continuation of the Ghana Premier League unless swift and decisive action is taken by the GFA.

Without an urgent resolution, the standoff threatens to cast a long shadow over Ghanaian football.
