The 31st Ordinary Congress of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has approved the proposal to extend the tenure of the Association’s president from a maximum of two terms to three.

In a decisive vote held at the Ghanaman Centre of Excellence in Prampram on Tuesday, 114 delegates out of 124 endorsed the amendment, which now allows a GFA president to serve three four-year terms.

The decision marks a significant change in the Association’s statutes, paving the way for longer leadership continuity at the helm of Ghana football administration.

The amendment was part of a broader review of the GFA statutes, aimed at updating governance structures and aligning them with international best practices.

With the approval, a GFA president can now serve up to 12 years in office, compared to the previous maximum of eight.
