The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially released the squad list for the 2025 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, set to be staged in Egypt, offering Ghanaians an early glimpse of the Black Satellites contingent that will represent the nation.

Ghana, drawn in Group C alongside Senegal, DR Congo, and the Central African Republic, will begin their tournament campaign on Friday, May 2, with a high-stakes opener against DR Congo.

However, the announcement has stirred debate and confusion, as discrepancies have emerged between CAF’s published list and the players reportedly in camp or confirmed to be traveling.

One of the most striking inconsistencies is the inclusion of Vision FC midfielder Edmund Asante. Although CAF’s official tournament portal lists Asante as part of the Ghana squad, he remains in Accra and was even on the scoresheet for Vision FC in their recent matchday 29 Ghana Premier League victory over Bibiani Gold Stars. The player’s involvement in domestic action has fueled questions over the accuracy of the squad list submitted to CAF.

Sources close to the team have indicated that not all players named have arrived at Ghana’s training base in Egypt, with a few expected to join in the coming days.
