Black Starlets Assistant Coach Tips Joseph Narbi for Future Black Stars Call-Up
Black Starlets assistant coach Nana Kweku Agyemang has thrown his support behind captain Joseph Narbi, predicting the teenage midfielder is on course for a swift rise to Ghana’s senior national team.
Narbi, 17, has been one of the standout prospects in Ghana’s youth ranks over the past two years, progressing from the U17 setup to earn a place in the U20 squad while maintaining his leadership role with the Black Starlets.
Agyemang believes the youngster possesses the technical quality and mentality required to make the step up to the Black Stars in the near future.
“I think so far, when it comes to the youth players, we can already say that Joseph Narbi is one of the best players. When you look at the previous U17 till now, he has also been called to the U20, so I think, as young as he is, he is one of the best players,” he told Citi Sports.
The assistant coach also highlighted Narbi’s tactical awareness and leadership qualities, describing him as a complete young footballer with strong character.
“Technically and tactically, the boy is fantastic. He is the captain of the current U17; he is a very good leader, very respectful. I think if he continues this way, I think Narbi will soon join the Black Stars,” Agyemang added.
Narbi remains a central figure in the Black Starlets squad and is expected to play a crucial role when Ghana competes at the 2026 U17 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco in April, as the young side looks to reassert itself among Africa’s elite at youth level.
