As preparations for the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) and upcoming international friendlies intensify, Black Queens head coach Kim Lars Björkegren has embarked on a scouting mission to monitor both foreign-based and domestic players.

The Swedish tactician began his assessment in Europe, with his first stop in Sweden, where he observed former Black Princesses midfielder Sharon Sampson in action for Piteå IF in the Swedish Cup. Sampson, who recently signed for the top-flight club, played a pivotal role as Piteå IF secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Alingsås IF.

Beyond evaluating Ghanaian players abroad, Björkegren is also keeping a close eye on talents in the local league.

The Black Queens coach is expected to return to Ghana in the coming weeks to continue his scouting in the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League and the Women’s FA Cup. This rigorous monitoring process is part of his broader strategy to assemble a formidable squad for the WAFCON and other international competitions.
