Ghanaian football powerhouse Asante Kotoko is set to embark on a significant squad overhaul ahead of the 2025/26 football season, following their successful end to the previous campaign.

The Porcupine Warriors capped off the 2024/25 season on a high note by lifting the MTN FA Cup, beating lower-division side Golden Kick FC 2-1 at the University of Ghana Stadium. The triumph, which marked Kotoko’s 10th FA Cup title, also secured them a return to continental football via the CAF Confederation Cup.

Speaking to the media, the club’s Communications Director, Sarfo Duku, revealed that plans are already in motion to restructure the squad and prepare financially for their upcoming continental assignment.

“We are going to plan for the African campaign in terms of finances. We will soon effect changes in the team. Players who were unable to meet our expectations will be shown the exit door. In the next few days, some players will leave the club,”
Duku stated.

His remarks confirm long-held speculations that the club would make adjustments after a mixed domestic season, which saw them finish outside the league’s top two despite their FA Cup glory.

On Wednesday, June 18, the team officially presented the FA Cup trophy to the club’s life patron, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi. The delegation was led by Nana Apinkrah Akwasi Awuah, Chairman of the Interim Management Committee (IMC), along with Technical Director Kwesi Appiah and Technical Advisor Malik Jabir.
