Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has acknowledged that Andre Ayew is currently not among his top choices for national team call-ups.

The 35-year-old forward, who plays for Le Havre in Ligue 1, has been absent from the squad since Addo returned as head coach in March 2024, despite scoring four goals in 11 starts this season.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with JoySports, Addo explained that while Ayew remains an option, other players are currently ahead of him in the selection process.

“If we need Andre Ayew, we will call him. At the moment, I see others ahead of him,” he stated.

In his absence, Jordan Ayew has taken over as the Black Stars’ captain, leading the team to back-to-back victories against Chad and Madagascar in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
