Former Asante Kotoko midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang Badu has advised Asante Kotoko to reconsider its approach to player accommodation by scrapping the practice of housing team members in a single residence. His comments follow recent claims of off-field misconduct made by ex-Kotoko captain Justice Blay.

In a widely discussed interview, Blay alleged that during his time at the club, some players engaged in inappropriate behaviour within the team’s residential compound, including alcohol consumption, shisha smoking, and involvement in romantic disputes. These incidents reportedly took place at the club’s communal living facility.

Reacting to the revelations, Agyemang Badu, speaking to Luv FM, called on the club to adopt a more modern and professional approach by allowing players to live independently—particularly if the club’s financial capacity allows it.

“I’ve been a professional footballer before. If it’s not camping, grouping players in a place like this—and a huge club like Asante Kotoko—if financially the team is very strong, they should disperse them and let them get their own houses so that there can be peace,” he said.

The former Udinese midfielder stressed that failure to change the current arrangement could result in repeated disciplinary issues, which could disrupt the club’s stability.

“Maybe next year, maybe in the years to come, you might be having a lot of chaotic scenes like this,” he added.

Agyemang Badu’s comments add to growing calls for internal reform at Asante Kotoko as the club prepares for the upcoming season amid public scrutiny over its internal culture and discipline.
