Medeama strengthened their grip on the Premier League summit on Sunday after overturning an early deficit to defeat Berekum Chelsea 2-1 at the TnA Stadium, a result that widened their advantage following Aduana FC’s stalemate with Basake Holy Stars.

The league leaders were caught off guard in the opening stages when Faisal Shaibu struck for Chelsea in the 12th minute.

But the Yellow and Mauve returned for the second half with sharper movement and greater urgency. Their persistence paid off in the 57th minute when Jacob Amo Mensah climbed above his marker to steer a precise header beyond goalkeeper Ofori Antwi, igniting fresh energy inside the stadium.

The champions completed their comeback just 12 minutes later. Salim Adams produced the moment of the match, unleashing a ferocious shot from the edge of the area that rocketed into the net, sealing all three points for Ibrahim Tanko’s side.

The victory pushes Medeama two points clear at the top and further cements their status as one of the early favourites in the title race.

For Berekum Chelsea, the defeat compounds an already difficult campaign. With only three wins recorded so far, the club now finds itself inside the relegation zone, increasing the pressure on coach Samuel Boadu ahead of a crucial meeting with Hohoe United.
