Accra Hearts of Oak have confirmed a major technical reshuffle, announcing that Ivorian coach Aboubakar Ouattara has stepped down from his position as head coach and will now serve as Special Advisor to the club’s Board of Directors.

The club made the announcement in an official statement released highlighting Ouattara’s reassignment as a strategic move to strengthen governance and long-term planning at the club.

“The Board of Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club has reassigned Aboubakar Ouattara from the role of Head Coach to Special Advisor to the Board of Directors,” the statement read.

“The Board conveys its congratulations to Aboubakar Ouattara in his new role and looks forward to a good collaboration to move the club to new heights.”

Ouattara joined the Phobians midway through the 2023/24 season, stabilizing the team and ensuring they escaped relegation. He followed that up with a top-four finish in the just-concluded 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season. However, the failure to deliver silverware has prompted a change at the top.

In a swift follow-up, Hearts of Oak have appointed Mas-Ud Didi Dramani as the new head coach on a two-year contract. The former Asante Kotoko and Black Stars assistant coach returns to domestic club management with a clear mandate to bring success to the capital-based side.

Dramani’s first major assignment will be the 2025 President’s Cup clash against arch-rivals Asante Kotoko, scheduled for July 6 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
