Head coach of Accra Hearts of Oak, Aboubakar Ouattara, has expressed his excitement following the contract extension of goalkeeper and team captain Benjamin Asare.

The 32-year-old shot-stopper recently signed a two-year extension that will keep him at the club until 2027, after attracting interest from foreign clubs due to his exceptional performances for both club and country.

Asare has been a pillar for the Phobians this season, and his recent standout displays with the Black Stars — where he kept consecutive clean sheets against Chad and Madagascar in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers — further boosted his profile.

Reacting to the news of the extension, Coach Ouattara said the club has taken a big step towards stabilizing its defense by securing the services of the experienced goalkeeper.

“I’m very happy Benjamin Asare is staying with us for two more seasons. To stabilize the goalkeeping department, we need a goalkeeper who is disciplined. We need him,” the Ivorian tactician told reporters.

In the ongoing Ghana Premier League season, he has kept 13 clean sheets in 20 matches, conceding only eight goals — a stat that underlines his consistency and leadership between the posts.
