Ghana striker Brandon Thomas-Asante has expressed his determination to help the Black Stars secure a strong finish at the 2025 Unity Cup, as they prepare to face Trinidad and Tobago in the third-place playoff.

The West Bromwich Albion forward opened his international goal account in Ghana’s 2-1 defeat to Nigeria in the semi-final but was left disappointed by the result, which dashed their hopes of reaching the final.

“In terms of playing against Trinidad and Tobago, you know, we go out there, the same attitude as always, try and win the game and put things right, which is what we want to do,” Thomas-Asante told reporters ahead of the clash.

His comments reflect a renewed sense of focus within the camp as the Black Stars aim to wrap up their Unity Cup campaign on a positive note.

Born in England to Ghanaian and Jamaican parents, Thomas-Asante also revealed his personal disappointment at missing out on the chance to face Jamaica, who booked their place in the final.

“To be fair, on a personal note, I’m a little bit frustrated because I’m Jamaican as well, so I would have liked to do that one [play Jamaica in the final],” he admitted.

Despite the missed opportunity, the 25-year-old forward remains upbeat and committed to finishing the tournament strongly with Ghana. His energy, goal-scoring instincts, and versatility in attack have made him one of the standout performers for the Black Stars during the tournament.

The third-place playoff is scheduled for Saturday, May 31, as Ghana seek redemption and a morale-boosting win to conclude their Unity Cup participation.
