Ghanaian international Tariq Lamptey will remain at Brighton & Hove Albion for the 2025/26 Premier League season after putting pen to paper on a one-year contract extension.

The Seagulls confirmed the agreement on Monday, June 9, revealing that the 24-year-old defender has signed a deal that will keep him at the Amex Stadium until June 2026.

Lamptey’s previous contract was due to expire at the end of this month, sparking speculation about a possible move away from the South Coast. However, both parties have now agreed to continue their partnership for at least another year.

The right-back, who joined Brighton from Chelsea in January 2020, has gone on to make 122 appearances for the club, scoring five goals and contributing 12 assists.

Head coach Fabian Hürzeler expressed his delight over the extension, highlighting Lamptey’s importance to the team.

“We’re delighted Tariq is staying with us. He wants to help the team achieve our targets and gives us great options in wide areas,” Hürzeler said.

“We are looking forward to Tariq being part of our journey next season.”

Lamptey enjoyed a solid campaign in the 2024/25 season, making 20 appearances across all competitions and contributing three goals and two assists. His pace, versatility, and attacking mindset have made him a key asset in Brighton’s tactical setup.

The extension comes as Brighton aim to strengthen their squad ahead of another competitive season in the English top flight, with Lamptey set to play a vital role in their plans moving forward.
