Tanko Tips Medeama for Hearts Test as Tarkwa Braces for Title Showdown

Medeama SC head coach Ibrahim Tanko has acknowledged the threat posed by Hearts of Oak but remains confident his side is well equipped to meet the challenge when the two teams clash in Tarkwa this weekend.

The Yellow and Mauves head into the fixture buoyed by a solid run of form, having picked up two wins and three draws in their last five league outings. That consistency has kept Medeama firmly among the pace-setters, and Tanko believes playing at home could prove decisive against the Phobians.

Despite Hearts’ strong reputation and recent success against Medeama, the coach insists his players are mentally and physically prepared for the contest.

“Hearts is a very strong side. I’m sure the boys are ready to take the fight. We are playing home. We want to maintain our position at the top. It’s not going to be easy but we are ready. The boys are ready to deliver,” Tanko told Medeama TV.

The fixture also carries personal significance for Medeama, who suffered a home defeat to Hearts last season — a result Tanko admits is still fresh in the memory and adds extra motivation going into the match.

Sunday’s encounter, scheduled for a 5:30 pm kick-off at the TnA Stadium on January 4, is expected to draw keen attention as two of Ghana’s most storied clubs battle for vital points in the title race.
