Tanko Frustrated as Medeama Drop Points in Bechem Draw
Medeama SC head coach Ibrahim Tanko has voiced his disappointment after his side were held to a draw by Bechem United, insisting the outcome failed to mirror their dominance on the pitch.
The Yellow and Mauves travelled to Bechem for their Week 28 fixture in the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League, where both sides settled for a 1-1 stalemate after a fiercely contested encounter.
Despite securing a point away from home, Tanko believes his team did enough—particularly in the opening half—to secure maximum points but were let down by their finishing.
“I think one point in Bechem, it’s not bad, but I don’t think it’s the reflection of the game, because when you look at the first half, we had enough chances to score, but we couldn’t. I think in the end, like you said, one point in Bechem is okay,” Tanko said after the game.
The result has significant implications for the title race, with Medeama relinquishing their position at the top of the table. They now sit second, trailing league leaders Bibiani Gold Stars by a single point.
With seven matches left to play, the battle for the Ghana Premier League crown remains finely poised as Medeama look to regain momentum in the closing stages of the campaign.
