The Government of Ghana through the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has approved 10 percent tax on betting, which took effect on August 15, 2023. The tax us on the gross winnings from all Betting, Gaming, Lotto and other Games of Chance.

The step was taken following the passage of the Income Tax (Amendment) (No. 2) Act, 2023 (Act 1094)

However, opposition Party NDC’s national youth organiser George Opare Addo wants this to be abolished.

10%!! He’s no priest yet he wants ten percent of your earnings. What’s it with Akufo Addo and playing priest; first it’s a cathedral, now he wants tithes. Failed President!
