Vice Chairman of the Black Stars, Stephen Appiah, has expressed confidence in the team’s readiness to deliver strong performances in their upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar.

Following Ghana’s disappointing campaign at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), where they failed to secure a single win and finished at the bottom of their group, the national team has faced heavy criticism.

With just two victories recorded in 2024, the Black Stars now have a chance to redeem themselves in their first matches of 2025.

Appiah, a key figure in Ghana’s historic qualifications for the 2006 and 2010 World Cups, believes the players are determined to restore national pride.

“I was proud to see our president [John Mahama] visit the players yesterday. He gave them words of encouragement and reminded them that this is not about NDC or NPP—it’s about playing their hearts out for Ghana,” Appiah told Asempa FM.

“From everything President Mahama told the players, I believe they are motivated and ready to make Ghanaians proud against Chad and Madagascar.”

The Black Stars will host Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday, March 21, before traveling to Morocco to face Madagascar on March 24.
