Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has officially unveiled a 23-man squad for the upcoming Unity Cup 2025, scheduled to take place in London later this week.

The squad features a blend of local talents, debutants, and returning internationals as Ghana prepares for the mini-tournament involving Nigeria, Trinidad and Tobago, and Jamaica.

Among the notable inclusions are four home-based players who have impressed in the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season. They are goalkeeper Benjamin Asare of Hearts of Oak, midfielder Razak Simpson of Nations FC, defender Kamaradini Mamudu of Medeama SC, and striker Kwame Opoku of Asante Kotoko.

St. Patrick’s Athletic goalkeeper Joseph Tetteh Anang, a former West Ham United youth product now playing in Ireland, earns his maiden call-up to the senior national team, marking a significant step in his international career.

The squad also features two standout performers from the recent U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt—midfielder Abdul Aziz Issah and defender Aaron Essel—who played key roles for the Black Satellites.

Talented young defender Caleb Yirenkyi, who has been in excellent form for Danish side FC Nordsjaelland, is included alongside Belgium-based midfielder Mohammed Gadafi Fuseini of Union Saint-Gilloise.

In a boost to the team’s midfield depth, Sunderland’s Abdul Samed Salis makes a long-awaited return after recovering from an injury that sidelined him for much of the season. Also returning is Majeed Ashimeru of Anderlecht, while forward Felix Afena Gyan rejoins the squad nearly two years since his last appearance.

The selected players are expected to assemble in London this week to begin preparations for the tournament, which serves as a platform to test new talent and build chemistry ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Ghana will open their campaign against arch-rivals Nigeria on Wednesday, May 28, at the GTech Community Stadium in West London. The winner of that match will progress to the final on Saturday, May 31, 2025.
