Okaikwei Central Member of Parliament, Patrick Boamah, has urged the Black Stars to focus on climbing the FIFA rankings, despite their impressive victories over Chad and Madagascar in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Ghana, currently ranked 77th in the world, struggled with a poor run of form before the qualifiers, going six games without a win during their Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) campaign.

However, Otto Addo’s side has since responded emphatically, thrashing Chad 5-0 last Friday before sealing a 3-0 win over Madagascar on Monday.

Addressing Parliament on Tuesday, Honorable Boamah emphasized that the Black Stars must aim higher and restore their reputation on the global stage.

“The Black Stars are ranked 77th on the FIFA ranking, and that is not where we are supposed to be,” he said.

“If you know where we as a country want our national team to be, we want our national team to be at the levels that took us to the last eight in 2010. That is where we want our national team to be.”

The Black Stars will return to action in September with crucial qualifiers against Chad and Mali before wrapping up their group stage campaign against the Central African Republic and Comoros.
