Kudus Confident Ghana Will Rise to the Challenge After Tough World Cup Draw
Black Stars star Mohammed Kudus remains upbeat about Ghana’s prospects at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, despite the team being placed in one of the tournament’s most formidable groups.
Ghana were assigned to Group L during Friday’s draw in Washington DC, where they will face England, 2018 World Cup runners-up Croatia, and CONCACAF representatives Panama. The lineup has been widely described as one of the most demanding in the expanded 48-team competition.
Kudus, however, believes Ghana’s qualification alone speaks volumes about the team’s progress and potential.
“To qualify for the World Cup alone is a big statement from us, and it shows what we can do,” he said, emphasising that the Black Stars have already proven they belong on football’s biggest stage.
The Tottenham Hotspur midfielder also embraced the scale of the challenge ahead, highlighting the team’s readiness and mentality.
“It’ll be interesting. I’m looking forward to it. We are very much aware of the sides we will be facing. We will definitely be up for it, and we will be ready.”
Ghana will be seeking a return to the knockout phase after early exits in their previous two World Cup campaigns. The upcoming edition offers a fresh opportunity, and the team hopes to replicate the spirit and resilience of their historic 2010 quarter-final run.
With the tournament kicking off in June 2026, preparations are set to intensify. The Ghana Football Association is expected to line up warm-up matches and extended training camps as the Black Stars gear up for another attempt at global glory.
