Ghanaian international Kamaldeen Sulemana has clarified his intentions following his move to Serie A side Atalanta, insisting his goal is to contribute to the team rather than replace any player.

The 24-year-old winger joined Atalanta from English Championship club Southampton on a long-term deal this summer, ahead of the 2025/26 football season.

With reports suggesting that Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman is close to joining Inter Milan, speculation has grown over Sulemana being signed as his direct replacement. However, the former Stade Rennais star dismissed such assumptions during an interaction with the media on Atalanta’s pre-season tour.

“I didn’t come here to replace anyone,” Sulemana said. “I came to play with whoever is here. I can learn a lot from Ademola; he has a lot to teach me.”

Sulemana, who is known for his speed and flair on the flanks, also emphasized that his focus is to contribute meaningfully to the squad’s progress rather than settle for a backup role.

“I’m here to contribute to the team, not to be someone’s substitute,” he added.

The Ghanaian’s arrival has been welcomed by fans of the Bergamo-based club, with expectations high for his impact in the upcoming campaign. Sulemana will be hoping to secure a regular place.
