Former Asante Kotoko midfielder Justice Blay has opened up about the circumstances surrounding his departure from the club, revealing a series of explosive claims about life in the team’s camp during his final days in Kumasi.

Speaking in an interview with Pure FM, Blay disclosed that he had sensed his imminent exit from the club even before management made it official.

“I knew I was not going to be part of Kotoko’s team. I sensed it during our camp ahead of the MTN FA Cup game against Golden Kick FC. I was later called into a meeting and told that I am no longer in the plans of the club. The explanation they gave was that they are not only looking at performance,” he stated.

Blay further claimed he overheard a private conversation between Board Member Nana Apinkra and Technical Director Kwesi Appiah, where one of them was heard saying, “I like Kwame,” which he interpreted as confirmation that sides had already been taken against him.

Beyond football matters, Blay responded to accusations regarding his personal lifestyle, especially suggestions that he was involved in excessive drinking.

“People have been misinformed that I’m the only drunkard in the club, but that’s not true,” he said.

He went on to allege that teammates Joseph Ablor and Guinea import Camara Mohammed also engaged in smoking ‘Shisha’.

In a startling revelation, Blay alleged that Camara Mohammed had an affair with his girlfriend, leading to a heated confrontation that resulted in a police case.

He also accused fellow teammate Kwame Poku of betrayal, claiming he took over his ‘sugar mummy’.

“That’s where I even assaulted the security man at the club house because of the tension,” Blay confessed. “I am clarifying this because it has been twisted.”

Justice Blay’s contract with Asante Kotoko was mutually terminated at the end of the 2024/25 season, despite having a year left on his deal. His departure brings to an end a turbulent chapter between the midfielder and the Porcupine Warriors.
