Jordan Ayew Hails Father Abedi Pele’s Influence, Says “There’s Still More to Come”
Ghana international Jordan Ayew has paid glowing tribute to his father, the legendary Abedi Ayew “Pele,” for his pivotal role in shaping his football career and that of his siblings, Andre and Ibrahim Ayew.
In an interview with Leicester City’s official website, the 32-year-old forward reflected on the pressures and expectations of being a footballing son of one of Africa’s greatest ever players, but also acknowledged the invaluable support and guidance Abedi provided throughout the journey.
“My Dad has done a lot, for not only me, but my whole family. It’s not easy to come after your father in a sense of the expectations being so high back home and even in Europe,” Jordan said.
“I think me and my brother have coped really well with it and tried to focus on ourselves and ensure that we had our own journey.”
With both brothers still active for club and country, the Black Stars forward believes there is more to come from the Ayew family.
“There’s still more to come from us, and hopefully we can give them more moments to enjoy,” Jordan concluded.
The Ayew brothers continue to represent Ghana at the highest level, carrying on the proud legacy of their father, whose name is etched in African football history.
