Ghanaian midfielder Ibrahim Sulemana has been voted Atalanta BC’s Player of the Month for May, following a string of standout performances that capped off a strong end to the 2024/25 season.

The 22-year-old earned the recognition after delivering crucial contributions in Atalanta’s final fixtures of the campaign, which included two important goals in the space of a few weeks.

Sulemana joined the Serie A outfit last summer from Cagliari Calcio, where he had impressed with his work ethic, versatility, and ball-winning ability. Despite facing stiff competition for game time in Bergamo, particularly from Brazilian international Ederson, the Ghanaian has made the most of every opportunity handed to him.

In total, he featured 10 times across all competitions in his debut season for Atalanta, and his two goals in May proved decisive. One of those goals came in a high-stakes encounter against AS Roma, a strike that effectively secured Atalanta’s qualification for the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League. He followed that up with another goal against Genoa, further underlining his growing influence in the squad.

His performances did not go unnoticed by the club’s supporters, who voted him as the Player of the Month, highlighting his impact and increasing importance to Gian Piero Gasperini’s side.

His recent form also earned him a place in the Black Stars squad for the Unity Cup held in the United Kingdom. He featured in the third-place playoff against Trinidad and Tobago, as Ghana secured a resounding 4-0 victory.
