GPL: Legon Cities record narrow win over Asante Kotoko
Legon Cities recorded a 2-1 victory over Kumasi Asante Kotoko in an outstanding match week 6 fixture of the Ghana Premier League.
The exciting game took place at the Legon sports stadium in Accra. Prior to this game, both teams were winless in their previous games where Asante Kotoko drew 1-1 with Basake Holy Stars while Legon Cities drew goalless with Accra Lions.
Albert Yeboah broke the deadlock of the game for Legon Cities in the 22nd minute before the whistle went for the end of the first half. Asante Kotoko in the second half started the second half on a high note in their quest to equalize.
The Porcupine Warriors restored parity in the 76th minute kind courtesy a goal from their forward man, Albert Amoah.
However, the joy was short-lived when Legon Cities through Abdul Rahman scored in the dying embers of the game to give the Royals the maximum points. The defeat to Legon Cities is the first time Kotoko has lost in this season’s Ghana Premier League. It is also Legon Cities first win of the season.
The win propels Legon Cities to the 17th position with 5 points while Asante Koto are second on the log with 15points.
