The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has purchased $100,000 worth of footballs to support clubs in the regional divisions, according to an announcement on the GFA website.

The new footballs, procured through the FIFA Forward programme, will be distributed to Division Two, Division Three, and Regional Women’s Division One league clubs across the country.

“During the 29th Session of the GFA Congress President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku announced that an amount of $100,000 via the FIFA Forward programme has been allocated to purchase footballs for the various Regional League clubs as part of the Association’s plans to improve and support the Regional Leagues across the country,” according to the statement.

Representatives from the 10 Regional Football Associations have been invited to collect the footballs allocated to their zone.

This comes as part of the GFA’s efforts “to support the Regional Football Associations in the organization of the grassroots football across the country.”

The new equipment will be a boost for lower league clubs that may struggle to afford regular replacement of match balls.

“This intervention is one of the many policies that have been approved by the GFA Executive Council to support the Regional Football Associations in the organization of the grassroots football across the country,” the GFA noted.
