Former Vice President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), George Afriyie, has voiced his strong disapproval of any plans to dismiss Black Stars head coach Otto Addo, insisting that continuity and support are the best paths forward for the national team.

Otto Addo a former Black Stars player, is on the verge of leading Ghana to a second successive FIFA World Cup appearance, with the Black Stars just one point away from qualification. The team currently sits atop Group I following an emphatic 5–0 triumph over the Central African Republic, and will conclude their qualifying campaign against Comoros on Sunday, October 12, at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Despite the team’s recent dominance, debate over Addo’s future has intensified. Responding to these discussions, George Afriyie, in an interview with Asempa FM, cautioned against making hasty decisions that could disrupt the team’s progress.

“Sacking Otto Addo at this point is not the right decision,” Afriyie stated firmly. “We should get a more qualified coach to support Otto Addo.”

Afriyie believes that rather than replacing Addo outright, the GFA should strengthen the technical setup by appointing a seasoned assistant to provide tactical and strategic depth.

With kick-off against Comoros set for 19:00 GMT, Ghana stands on the brink of another World Cup qualification.
