Ex-National Goalkeepers Union Announces April Goalkeeper of the Month Nominees
The Ex-National Goalkeepers Union has officially unveiled the four standout contenders for the April edition of the Ghana Premier League Goalkeeper of the Month award, highlighting exceptional performances that contributed significantly to their teams’ campaigns.
The nominees for the month under review are Emmanuel Kobi (Bibiani Gold Stars), Daniel Afful (Accra Lions), Rabin Ousmane Sanon (Nations FC) and Shaibu Rafique Issah (FC Samartex 1996)
Emmanuel Kobi was instrumental in Bibiani Gold Stars’ impressive run, featuring in six matches where he helped secure four wins. The goalkeeper kept three clean sheets and conceded just four goals, showcasing both consistency and composure between the sticks.
Daniel Afful of Accra Lions earned his spot on the shortlist following a series of resilient displays. Despite conceding six goals in five games, he managed two clean sheets, and his contributions helped Accra Lions claim three victories in April. His leadership at the back remains a key asset to the team’s survival push.
Rabin Ousmane Sanon, making his debut on the nomination list, stood out with a remarkable run for Nations FC. The Burkinabe shot-stopper registered four wins out of five appearances, recording a league-best four consecutive clean sheets and conceding only once. His performances were crucial in propelling Nations FC to the summit of the Ghana Premier League table by the end of the month.
Shaibu Rafique Issah, who was also nominated in March, continued his impressive form for FC Samartex 1996. In April, he played five matches, helped the team secure three wins, one draw, and suffered only one defeat. Issah kept three clean sheets and let in four goals, reinforcing his reputation as one of the league’s most dependable goalkeepers.
The winner of the Goalkeeper of the Month award will receive a prize package from the Ex-National Goalkeepers Union, including a pair of gloves, a towel, water bottles, and a branded T-shirt.
