Accra Great Olympics General Manager Eric Alagidede says his side’s spirited performance in the 2025 Democracy Cup final against Hearts of Oak should serve as a wake-up call to their Division One League Zone Three opponents.

Olympics fell 1–0 to their city rivals at the University of Ghana Stadium on Friday night, but Alagidede insisted the Phobians were made to fight hard for the victory, describing his team’s display as a statement of intent ahead of the new campaign.

“I think what we exhibited here today is a clear signal to all the teams in Zone Three that they’ve got to be up there to be able to play against Accra Great Olympics,” he told reporters after the game.

The General Manager admitted Zone Three is traditionally one of the most competitive in Ghana’s Division One League, but believes his squad has shown they are ready for the battles to come.

“Zone Three has also been difficult and we know. We are aware of the task ahead,” he said, stressing that any side hoping to beat Olympics must be at their absolute best.

Though the result saw them narrowly miss out on silverware, the strong showing against a Premier League heavyweight has given Olympics renewed confidence in their quest for promotion. With the season fast approaching, Alagidede is convinced the team’s resilience and quality will make them one of the toughest contenders in the division.
