Black Stars Ready to Make Cultural Statement at World Cup: Antoine Semenyo
Black Stars forward Antoine Semenyo believes Ghana will arrive at the FIFA World Cup with more than just competitive ambition, insisting the team is equally eager to showcase the nation’s rich culture on the global stage when the tournament begins in June.
Ghana face a stern test in Group L, having been drawn alongside England, Croatia and Panama, a line-up that promises a demanding group phase for the four-time African champions.
In an interview with CBS Sports, Semenyo described the World Cup as a unique platform and expressed confidence that Ghana will leave a lasting impression both on and off the pitch.
“We’re going to come in big bunches, I’ll tell you that. In big tournaments like this we want to show our culture, show that we’re different to other nations; whether it’s dancing, singing or just supporting in the stands. It’s endless,” he said.
Beyond the spectacle, the Bournemouth forward stressed how deeply football is woven into Ghanaian life, explaining that the passion of fans back home often drives the players during major international competitions.
“Ghana runs through so many people’s veins back home and we just love football. The World Cup is going to be amazing. Hopefully, God willing, we do well. I’m really looking forward to playing in America.”
Semenyo’s remarks underline a growing sense of optimism within the Black Stars camp as preparations continue. With challenging opponents ahead, Ghana are not only targeting strong performances but also aiming to make themselves unforgettable through the colour, rhythm and energy that define the nation’s football identity.
