Head coach of the Black Queens, Kim Lars Bjorkegren, has expressed confidence and determination ahead of Ghana’s crucial semifinal clash against host nation Morocco in the ongoing 2024 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

The much-anticipated encounter is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, July 22 at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat, with Ghana aiming to reach the WAFCON final for the first time since 2006.

Speaking ahead of the fixture, Coach Bjorkegren addressed the underestimation his side has faced over the years and emphasized the team’s mission to defy expectations.

“This team has been underestimated for too long. We want to shake things up,” Kim Lars Bjorkegren said.

His remarks come in the wake of Ghana’s dramatic quarter-final victory over Algeria, where the Black Queens triumphed 4-2 on penalties after a goalless stalemate through regulation and extra time.

The victory marked a significant milestone for the team, who are now on the verge of making history under Bjorkegren’s leadership.

With a place in the final on the line, the Black Queens are expected to come out with purpose and resilience as they face a Moroccan side buoyed by home support.

Coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren and his team are now just one win away from securing a historic spot in the WAFCON final and reigniting Ghana’s status as a powerhouse in African women’s football.
