Black Princesses Secure Another Win Over Benin to Stay Unbeaten in WAFU B U20 Girls’ Cup
Ghana’s Black Princesses continued their fine form at the ongoing WAFU B U20 Girls’ Cup with a convincing 2-0 victory over host nation Benin in their third group game on Monday, November 10, 2025.
The result marked Ghana’s second win in as many meetings with Benin, completing a double over the hosts and keeping their unbeaten record intact in the competition.
Goals from Sarah Nyarko and Latifa Musah sealed the triumph for coach Charles Sampson’s side in a match played on Monday morning.
After being given a day’s rest on Sunday following back-to-back fixtures against Benin and Nigeria, the Black Princesses returned to action with a few tactical adjustments.
Goalkeeper Aishetu Awinimi and defender Juliana Gyekewaa were handed their first starts of the tournament as part of the rotation aimed at keeping the squad fresh.
The Princesses started brightly, dominating possession and pressing high, and were rewarded in the 14th minute when Sarah Nyarko pounced from close range to open the scoring — her third goal in as many matches.
Ghana took a slender 1-0 lead into halftime but continued to push for more after the break, creating numerous chances through fluid attacking play.
In stoppage time, Latifa Musah — who had been a standout performer throughout the match and previously won Player of the Match in Ghana’s first meeting with Benin — struck the decisive second goal to seal the win.
The victory sees Ghana maintain their momentum ahead of a crucial showdown against Nigeria in their final group match on Tuesday, as they aim to finish top and advance to the next stage of the competition.
