Bibiani Goldstars Draw JS Kabylie in Debut CAF Champions League Campaign
Ghana Premier League champions Bibiani Goldstars have been drawn against Algerian heavyweights JS Kabylie in the first preliminary round of the 2025/26 CAF Champions League.
The draw, conducted on Saturday morning in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, confirmed a challenging debut continental fixture for the reigning Ghanaian champions.
Goldstars, who secured their maiden league title in the 2024/25 season, will host the first leg at the Accra Sports Stadium before travelling to Algeria for the return encounter.
The winner of this two-legged tie will advance to face either East End Lions of Sierra Leone or Tunisian side US Monastir in the second round of qualification.
JS Kabylie, last season’s runner-up in the Algerian Ligue Professionnelle 1, are one of Africa’s most decorated clubs, having lifted the CAF Champions League twice—in 1981 and 1990. However, they have not reached the final since their last triumph 35 years ago.
The first-leg matches are scheduled for September 19–21, with the second legs taking place between September 26–28.
This encounter marks a significant milestone for Bibiani Goldstars, who will be aiming to make a strong impression in their first-ever appearance in Africa’s premier club competition.
