Basake Holy Stars head coach Abdulai Gazale has voiced his frustration over the officiating in his team’s narrow 1-0 defeat to Asante Kotoko in their Ghana Premier League matchday 25 fixture.

A deflected strike from Samuel Tenedu in the 14th minute proved decisive at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday, handing Kotoko their third straight victory and extending their unbeaten streak to four matches.

Speaking after the match, Gazale, a former assistant coach at Kotoko, did not hold back in his assessment of referee Rustum Gameli Senorgbe’s performance.

“Sometimes when you are playing in this kind of league, especially in the second round, you see so many things happen. I don’t usually comment on officiating, but this time, I have to speak because I know what has gone into this match,” Gazale stated.

“We know what Kotoko tried to do in the first leg, but they did not succeed. This time, they have. Just look at the free-kicks awarded against us—it’s unfortunate.”

Basake Holy Stars are currently 14th in the league table with 24 points and must regroup quickly as they continue their fight to avoid relegation.
