Asante Kotoko Plunge Deeper Into Crisis With Fourth Straight Defeat

Asante Kotoko’s struggles worsened on Sunday as they fell 2-0 to local rivals Nations FC at the Len Clay Stadium in Obuasi.

The defeat marked the Porcupine Warriors’ fourth consecutive loss in the Ghana Premier League, raising serious concerns about their form and direction this season.

Having already suffered defeats to Legon Cities, Heart of Lions, and Bechem United, Kotoko’s woes were compounded by the absence of key players.

Nafiu Sulemana broke the deadlock in the 31st minute with a well-taken goal, and just before halftime, Faisal Charwetey, the league’s top scorer, capitalized on a costly error by Kotoko goalkeeper Mohamed Camara to score his eighth goal of the season.

Kotoko’s offensive struggles were glaring throughout the match as they failed to register a single shot on target, underscoring their lack of sharpness in front of goal. In contrast, Nations FC were efficient, converting two of their three shots on target.

The victory catapulted Nations FC to the top of the league standings, taking advantage of Bibiani GoldStars’ loss to Medeama SC. For Kotoko, the defeat adds to mounting pressure on head coach Prosper Ogum, whose tactics and inability to address the team’s attacking deficiencies are under intense scrutiny.
