Ghana Premier League giants Asante Kotoko have officially announced the departure of midfielder Michael Kyei Dwamena, following the expiration of his contract with the club.

In a statement posted on the club’s official X (formerly Twitter) account on Thursday, June 19, the Porcupine Warriors confirmed the 25-year-old will not be part of their plans for the upcoming 2025/26 season.

“Michael Kyei Dwamena leaves the club after the expiration of his contract. Everyone at Asante Kotoko wishes Michael the best for the future,” the club wrote.

Kyei Dwamena, who previously featured for WAFA SC, joined Kotoko to add depth to the midfield and showed flashes of his ability during his stint in Kumasi. However, recurring injuries and competition for places limited his appearances over the course of his tenure.

His exit comes at a time when the club is actively restructuring its squad ahead of a busy campaign that includes participation in the CAF Confederation Cup.

More player movements—both exits and arrivals—are expected in the coming weeks as head coach Karim Zito prepares his squad for the challenges ahead.
