Asante Kotoko Appoint Samba O’Niel as New Captain Ahead of 2025/26 Season

Asante Kotoko have announced towering defender Samba O’Niel as the new club captain ahead of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season, ushering in a new era of leadership as the Porcupine Warriors aim to reclaim their dominance in domestic and continental football.

O’Niel will be joined in the leadership group by Henry Ansu, who has been named first assistant captain, and Lord Amoah, who takes up the role of second assistant captain.

The new trio is expected to instill unity, discipline, and motivation within the squad as Kotoko seek to bounce back stronger and mount serious challenges both in the Ghana Premier League and on the continental stage.

Kotoko will kick off their season with a highly anticipated international friendly — the Toyota Cup clash against South African giants Kaizer Chiefs, scheduled for July 26, 2025, at the iconic Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.
