Black Stars striker Antoine Semenyo has been shortlisted for the English Premier League Player of the Week award following his outstanding display in Bournemouth’s 2-1 triumph over Brighton on matchday four.

The 25-year-old forward was instrumental in the Cherries’ victory, registering both a goal and an assist to maintain the club’s bright start to the campaign. Semenyo first teed up Alex Scott for a spectacular opener before calmly converting from the penalty spot to record his fifth direct goal contribution of the 2024/25 season.

Semenyo will have to fend off competition from several top performers across the league. Among the nominees are Manchester City’s derby hero Erling Haaland, Arsenal midfielder Martin Zubimendi, Tottenham’s Lucas Bergvall, Chelsea’s Moises Caicedo, Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez, Sunderland’s Robin Roefs, and Newcastle’s Nick Woltemade.

This marks the second time Semenyo has been nominated for the weekly honour this season, underlining his growing influence in Bournemouth’s attack. He has also been named in the Premier League Team of the Week for the second time in just four games.

Although he narrowly missed out on the Player of the Month award for August, which went to Everton winger Jack Grealish, the Ghanaian continues to enhance his reputation as one of the league’s most exciting forwards.
