Alexander Adjei Makes Historic Move to Barcelona Beach Soccer Club
In a groundbreaking development for Ghanaian beach soccer, Alexander Adjei, the star forward of Sea Sharks Beach Soccer Club, has officially signed with Barcelona Beach Soccer Club in Spain.
This historic transfer marks the first time a Ghanaian beach soccer player has secured a professional move abroad, heralding a new chapter for the sport in the country.
His reputation is backed by an extraordinary goal-scoring record, including being crowned the CAF Beach Soccer AFCON Goal King twice. He scored 17 goals at the Seychelles 2015 tournament and followed it up with 11 goals in the 2024 edition held in Egypt, where Ghana narrowly missed out on qualification for the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup.
Known for his explosive pace, physical strength, and lethal finishing, Adjei has been a pillar for both his club Sea Sharks and the Ghana national team, the Black Sharks. His move to Barcelona is not just a personal milestone but a significant breakthrough for the entire Ghanaian beach soccer community.
Brazilian coach of Barcelona Beach Soccer Club, Leo Braga, expressed his enthusiasm about the signing:
“This is a very exciting moment for the club and also for Alex because we have been monitoring his development for some time and we believe he can improve our team.”
Braga confirmed that Adjei will be part of the team for the upcoming Spanish Beach Soccer season, where he is expected to add firepower to Barcelona’s attacking setup.
Reflecting on his move, a visibly proud Alexander Adjei stated:
“It’s a dream come true. I’ve worked hard for this moment, and I’m proud to be carrying the flag of Ghana into the international arena.”
The transfer is already being celebrated as a watershed moment for Beach Soccer Ghana, underscoring the rising profile of African players in the global beach soccer scene. With Adjei’s success, Ghanaian football stakeholders are optimistic about increased investment, recognition, and participation in the sport, both locally and internationally.
