AFCON 2023: Medikal takes blame for Black Stars’ winless run; “I should’ve stuck to football”
Renowned Ghanaian rapper Medikal has jokingly taken responsibility for the Black Stars’ lackluster performance at the Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
Ghana were held to a dramatic 2-2 draw by the Pharaohs of Egypt on Thursday, January 18, 2024, in their second group match.
Despite Mohammed Kudus’ brace putting the Black Stars ahead, what many say was a sign of careless defending allowed Egypt to steal a point late through Omar Marmoush and Mostafa Mohamed.
The draw leaves Ghana with just one point from two games trailing behind Cape Verde(one game played) and Egypt in the Group B standing.
Another slip-up against minnows Mozambique on Monday could see them exit the tournament at the group stage.
In a light-hearted post on social media, Medikal suggested he could have made a difference for Ghana on the pitch if he pursued a football career instead of music.
“I’m sorry Ghanaians, all this is my fault, I should have stuck to football,” the rapper tweeted.
