Accra Lions head coach Reiner Kraft has vowed that his side will give their all in Wednesday’s high-stakes Ghana Premier League showdown against Asante Kotoko at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Both teams are battling for contrasting objectives in the ongoing season. While Kotoko are determined to maintain their spot at the top of the league table and keep their title hopes alive, Accra Lions are equally desperate to secure points in their fight to avoid relegation.

Speaking ahead of the match, Kraft acknowledged the magnitude of the fixture, promising that his team would leave everything on the pitch.

“Asante Kotoko wants to win to stay on top of the league and we want to win to avoid relegation, so we will do our best,” Kraft stated.

The Lions come into the fixture buoyed by a crucial 2-1 comeback win over Basake Holy Stars last Saturday—a victory that significantly boosted their survival hopes. That result moved them a few points clear of the relegation zone and brought renewed belief to the squad.

Meanwhile, Kotoko are on an eight-match unbeaten run, having drawn their last two games against Bechem United and Heart of Lions. However, pressure continues to mount as rivals Bibiani Gold Stars have drawn level with them on points at the top of the table.

The history between the two sides shows that Kotoko hold the edge, with four wins in their last six encounters since February 2023. Accra Lions have managed one win in that span, with one game ending in a draw.

With everything on the line for both clubs, Wednesday’s clash promises to be an intense and potentially season-defining encounter.
