Black Queens Thrash Egypt 4-0 to Seal Qualification for 2026 WAFCON
The Black Queens of Ghana have booked their place at the 2026 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) after a commanding 4-0 victory over Egypt at the Accra Sports Stadium on Tuesday evening.
A stunning hat-trick from Doris Boaduwaa and a maiden international goal from Comfort Yeboah ensured a resounding win, completing a 7-0 aggregate triumph following Ghana’s 3-0 success in the first leg in Cairo.
Head Coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren made a few tactical adjustments to his starting lineup, introducing Evelyn Badu and Princess Marfo in place of Alice Kusi and Stella Nyamekye. The changes paid off as the Black Queens delivered a dominant performance in front of their home fans.
The game began at a frenetic pace, with Princess Marfo missing a golden opportunity just seconds after kickoff following a clever setup from Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah. Egypt nearly responded immediately, striking the crossbar in what was their best chance of the match.
After the restart, Ghana took complete control of proceedings. Doris Boaduwaa broke the deadlock in the 51st minute, capitalizing on an error by the Egyptian goalkeeper. The forward was unstoppable, doubling her tally five minutes later after latching onto Princess Marfo’s precise cross.

Moments later, Comfort Yeboah joined the party, firing home from a tight angle to make it 3-0 and mark her first goal for the national team.
With the game winding down, Boaduwaa capped off a brilliant individual display by completing her hat-trick in stoppage time, connecting beautifully with a through pass from Stella Nyamekye to seal Ghana’s emphatic win.
The result means Ghana have now qualified for back-to-back WAFCON tournaments, underlining their resurgence under Coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren.
The Black Queens will now turn their attention to preparations for the continental showpiece, set to take place in Morocco in 2026, as they aim to build on their impressive run and challenge for the title.
