Ghanaian forward Sampson Eduku has officially been announced as new signing for Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya.

The seven-time Iraqi champions signed the forward on a year deal with an option to renew. He left Ghana after a successful one-year spell in the Ghanaian top-flight with Tamale City FC, where he end as club’s topscorer.

Eduku ended the 2022-23 BetPawa Premier League with 14 goals behind Abednego Tetteh and Hafiz Wontah Konkoni, the two topscorers of the league.

The 27-year old attacker also bagged three assist and won four man of the match awards after making 27 appearances in the Ghanaian top-flight.

Eduku signed for Tamale City at the beginning of the 2022-23 campaign after leaving Guinean side CI Kamsar, where he spent one season.

He has vast experience in the game, having also played for FC Samartex 1996, Sekondi Hasaacas, Elmina Sharks FC, and Karela United FC.

The prolific attacker was being chased by Ghanaian giants Hearts of Oak, Medeama SC and some other African clubs but opted Iraq.

Sampson Eduku becomes the third Ghanaian player at Al-Jawiya after former Berekum Chelsea defender Wilson Akakpo and former Black Stars midfielder Afriyie Acquah.

Al-Jawiya finished in second place at the end of the 2022-23 season and will compete in the Asian Champions League in the upcoming season.
