SuperSport is the only place where you can get English commentary on the legendary La Liga, where the top match for this round sees Real Madrid host Girona at Estadio Santiago Bernabeu on the evening of Saturday 10 February.

The Blanquivermells have put up an extraordinary effort this season and to even still be involved in the title race is an incredible effort, but there is a feeling that if Los Blancos can triumph in this clash, it will confirm them as the clear favourites to go on and win the championship.

However, manager Carlo Ancelotti has warned his team against taking anything for granted: “There are always complications,” said the Italian. “We can prepare, we can have exactly the right attitude, but there is always a need to adapt and show strength of the mind. We will prove if we can do this.”

Elsewhere, Real’s fellow heavyweights Barcelona and Atletico Madrid have potentially tricky ties ahead of them on Sunday evening. First up, the Rojiblancos head to Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan for a clash with Sevilla – with the home team desperate to turn up a good result in what has been a terribly disappointing season.

Barca then welcome Granada, a team battling against the threat of relegation from the top tier and which will be hungry to try and exploit some of the weakness exhibited by the Catalans of late – issues which have brought a major spotlight on manager Xavi Hernandez.

“Winning the league this year will be very difficult,” said the Barcelona boss, who took his team to a somewhat surprising triumph last term. “We continue in the fight and it remains to be seen how far we will go, but there are things we cannot control.”

The round opens on Friday with Cadiz hosting Real Betis and closes on Monday with Athletic Bilbao’s visit to Almeria, with the Basque club looking to keep up their push for a top-four finish.
