Newly appointed Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, has expressed confidence that Ghana’s sports development challenges can be tackled through deliberate and effective leadership.

Ampofo Ankrah, a seasoned sports broadcaster, acknowledged that poor leadership has played a role in the country’s infrastructure and administrative challenges.

However, he remains optimistic that with the right approach, significant improvements can be made.

“The good news is that we have the brains and the people to make the changes. The challenge has been the willingness to cross that line and to make the changes,” he told Joy Sports, highlighting the untapped potential within Ghana’s sports sector.

“There’s a roadmap and if we follow that roadmap, we will clearly be able to see what we need to do to see a clear direction for growth,” he stated.

Ampofo Ankrah’s appointment comes at a time when Ghana’s sports sector is in need of structural reforms and improved infrastructure management.
