Ghanaian winger Osman Bukari has reflected on his goal at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, describing it as the most special moment of his career. He also revealed that replicating Cristiano Ronaldo’s iconic ‘Siuuu’ celebration played a huge role in making him more recognizable.

The 26-year-old, who currently plays for Austin FC in the Major League Soccer (MLS), has already found the net once in three appearances this season. However, his name became widely known after his performance in Ghana’s 3-2 defeat to Portugal in their World Cup opener at Stadium 974.

Speaking in an interview with KVUE News, Bukari admitted that scoring in such a prestigious tournament was a surreal experience, but it was the celebration that truly cemented his name in the minds of football fans.

“The first thing that came to my mind was, ‘So I scored a goal? I really scored a goal?'” he recalled. “It was a beautiful moment in my life to score at the World Cup.”

His celebration, mimicking Ronaldo’s famous ‘Siuuu’, sparked massive reactions, with many fans questioning his decision to pull off the move in a game against the Portuguese superstar himself.

“After the game, I got a lot of messages with people asking why I did the celebration,” Bukari revealed. “Some people said it was great, others questioned it, but now in Ghana, a lot of people recognize me because of that moment.”

The speedster, who is hoping to be named in Otto Addo’s squad for Ghana’s upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar, remains focused on making an impact for both club and country.
