Asante Kotoko head coach Abdul Karim Zito has shed light on the thinking behind the club’s decision to recruit young forward Dogo Yakubu, describing the move as a strategic investment in the club’s future.

The Porcupine Warriors confirmed on Monday, January 12, that the 21-year-old striker has been secured on a three-and-a-half-year deal after successfully passing his medical examination.

Reacting to the acquisition, Zito underlined the club’s commitment to youth development, stressing that Dogo’s arrival aligns perfectly with Kotoko’s long-term objectives rather than immediate short-term gains.

“This signing is part of our plan for the future. Dogo is young, hungry, and has the qualities we look for in a modern striker. We believe in giving young players the right platform to develop, and this is the right environment for him to grow, gain confidence, and become an important player for the club over time,” Zito told AKSC Media.

Dogo Yakubu makes the move to Kumasi from Midcity Football Academy, with Kotoko hopeful that the promising attacker will gradually evolve into a key figure in their attacking setup in the coming seasons.
