The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has responded to the Ashanti Gold SC injunction against the commencement of the 2023/24 league season.

Ashanti Gold SC, a four-time Premier League champions on Tuesday, secured a court injunction against the start of the upcoming league season scheduled for Friday, September 15, 2023.

The Miner’s are seeking redress after being suspended from all GFA-related football activities during the association’s 29th Ordinary Congress at the Great Hall of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi on July 10, 2023.

The FA suspended Ashanti Gold SC for dealing with banned officials Dr Kwaku Frimpong and his son Emmanuel Frimpong, who was their CEO.

Both were banned from all football-related activities for match-fixing scandal involving a league match between AshantiGold SC and Inter Allies at the Len Clay Sports Stadium in Obuasi.

With just few hours to the commencement of the upcoming league season, the Ghana FA has finally responded to the injunction case.

In their response, they indicated that before the injunction application was filed, AshantiGold were not a member of the association and the action from court should be kicked away.
