Accra Hearts of Oak have confirmed plans to resume training on June 19 as part of early preparations for the 2025 President’s Cup match against arch-rivals Asante Kotoko.

The much-anticipated fixture, scheduled for Sunday, July 6, 2025, will be played at the Accra Sports Stadium and is being organized to honour Ghana’s President, John Dramani Mahama. It marks yet another chapter in the fierce rivalry between Ghana’s two most successful football clubs.

Speaking to reporters, Hearts’ Public Relations Officer, Kwame Opare Addo, emphasized the club’s commitment to the ceremonial clash, insisting that despite being in the off-season, the Phobians are treating the game with utmost importance.

“We are going to make sure that even though the team is on break, because we attach seriousness to this particular assignment, the team is going to get back on the 19th [of June] and start preparation to ensure that at the end of it all, we send the Hearts of Oak family back home [after the game] with positive news,” Opare Addo stated.

The Phobians are determined to return to winning ways against the Porcupine Warriors, having failed to beat them in their last five encounters. The upcoming President’s Cup presents a valuable opportunity to break that run and give supporters a reason to celebrate.

The 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season saw both clubs finish closely in the standings, with Kotoko securing third place and Hearts ending in fourth. With the regular season behind them, attention now shifts to lifting silverware in the prestigious commemorative match.
