FIFA President Gianni Infantino has extended warm congratulations to Ghana following their qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, applauding both the Black Stars and their passionate supporters for the colour, energy, and flair they consistently bring to world football.

His message came shortly after Ghana’s hard-fought 1–0 victory over Comoros at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, a result that confirmed the country’s fifth World Cup appearance.

Infantino lauded Ghana’s return to the global stage, describing it as a boost to the tournament that will take place across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

“Congratulations to the Black Stars on reaching the FIFA World Cup for the fifth time in history,” Infantino said. “Ghanaian fans will bring their colour, style and passion to the greatest FIFA World Cup ever in 2026.”

The FIFA President’s message also celebrated the resilience of the players and the unyielding support of Ghanaians, calling qualification a proud milestone for both the nation and African football.

Infantino reflected on Ghana’s past achievements, particularly their historic 2010 campaign in South Africa, when they reached the quarter-finals, becoming one of only three African nations to do so.

“We expect that your team will establish more global stars to follow in the footsteps of the famous team that made the quarter-finals in 2010,” he added.

Ghana’s qualification marks another chapter in a remarkable World Cup story that began with their debut in 2006, followed by appearances in 2010, 2014, and 2022.

As celebrations continue across Ghana, preparations will soon turn toward next summer’s tournament. The group stage draw, scheduled for December 5, 2025, in Washington, D.C., will determine the Black Stars’ path in North America.
